Biography : No Vibrato
NO VIBRATO started playing in 1992 with different musicians fascinated by MONKs and COLTRANE's universe. Gig after gig, looking for its own sound, the band has build up ifs identity, giving a favor to an open and deep-seated improvisation, and keeping away from any initellectualism or sophisticated romanticism.
Most of the tunes are original compositions from the pianist and leader Etienne RICHARD.
Wifh about 50 concerts a year, NO VIBRATO Has played in the best belgian jazz clubs (TRAVERS and SOUNDS in Brussels, LION S'ENVOILE in Liège, DAMBERD in Gent, de HOPPER in Antwerpen etc...), in several art centers and jazz rallyes (Brussels Jazz Marathon, Jazz Jette June, Summerdays in Brugge) and in some festivals (Gaume Jazz Festival, Festival International de Liège, Ciney Jazz nights).
The band is also performing regularly in Luxembourg (" Zelstad " opening in 1995, Jazz Rally in 96 and 97, Merscheid, Mammer) and in France (more than 130 concerts), in the north (tour in youthclubs in Paris, Festival Art et Anarchie in Lille, Festival dAmiens, jazz clubs in Lille, Strasbourg, Thionville, Pont-à-Mousson) and in the south-east, where No Vibrato use to tour twice a year (Festival de Saint-Rémy-de- Provence, Millau, Barjols, Crest, Lamastre and many clubs in Ardèche and Provence).
